Pandakaking Tsina

Root and bark.The juice extracted from the flowers of pandakaking-tsina is mixed with coconut oil and applied on sore eyes.This will relieve sore eyes of the burning sensation.

Mangosteen


For stomach ache

Part of Fruit Used: Peelings (Chopped)

Amount of Chopped Peelings Used:

Dried Peelings Fresh Peelings

Adult - 1 table spoonful ---- 1 table spoonful

For children 7-12 years old, use 1/2 of the dose recommended for adults.

Preparation and Procedure:

1. Chop enough mangosteen peelings to fill in recommended amount to use.
2. Put the recommended amount of chopped peelings with a glass of water in a boiler.
3. Boil for 15 minutes, or until the water has been reduced to half its volume ( caused by evaporation).
4. Cool and drain before drinking.

Niyog- Niyogan

Number of Kernels Needed:
Adult -- 8-10
9-12yrs. -- 6-7
6-8yrs. -- 5-6
4-5yrs. -- 4-5

Preparation:
Get kernels from mature, dried and newly opened fruits.

Direction for Use:
1. Eat the kernels 2 hours after supper. Chew the kernels well then drink water.
2. If not found effective after the first dose, the same dose can be repeated only after a week or more.
3. In fresh seeds will be used, eat only 4 to 5 seeds. This dose is only for adults.This is not recommended for children. Some side effects include hiccups, stomachache, and diarrhea. These can be prevented if dried kernels are used, if the recommended dose is strictly followed and if use is not frequent.

Balimbing


Balimbing ( Averrhoa carambula)the fruit acts agaist dysentery. The balimbing leaves are chrushed and applied as a forehead compress for relief of headache.

Solution formed from the powdered seeds of balimbing is given as remedy for jaundice. Boiling water is poured over the balimbing seeds. The solution or infusion formed is strained and cooled before using. The infusion maybe flavored with sugar and drank as a beverage.

The mayana leaves and stems are boiled in water. The solution formed is strained and cooled before using. Droplets of the solution are applied to the eyes affected with a certain disease. The leaves are heated and applied as a compress to the forehead for the cure of headache.

The solution formed by boiling parts of the mayana plant in water is trained and drank as tea for the cure of dyspepsia.

Chili Pepper


Chili pepper is an erect, branched, shrub-like herb which grows to height of about 1 1/2 meters high, more or less.

The pounded pepper fruits are used in promoting a healthy appetite. People who suffer from rheumatism can get some relief from a potion made by soaking one cup of crushed chili pepper ( ripe) in a cup of vinegar. When used as condiment, it rouses the appetite and dispel the gas formed in the alimentary canal.

Chili pepper plant is a propagated by seeds. The seeds are sown either in seed boxes or seedbeds.

Fruits maybe harvested at each stage of maturity:

* Green Mature- when the fruit has reached its full size but still green all over.

* Breaker- when discoloration has started at the blossom end with the appearance of red spots.

* Red-Ripe- when pepper has fully became fully red in color.

Harvesting is done by snapping or twisting the fruits from their stems.
